The lactose is named for being the disaccharide in mammal milk. Its molecular structure is condensed by single molecule glucose and single molecule galactose. It is sweet in taste and takes about 4% in cow's milk and 5% to 7% in human milk. In industrial manufacture, it is extracted from whey and used to make infant food, candy and man-made milk, etc. It is usually used as flavoring agent medically. The lactose is 4-O--D-pyran galactosyl-D-glucose-monohydrate.
*As one of the most important nutrient substances for children’s growth and development, lactose is significant for the mental development of youngsters, and especially indispensable for newly born infants. In nature, lactose only exists in mammal milk and can’t be found in vegetalitas foods.
